A persuasive essay is a piece of writing that includes at least seven sentences; your opinion statement, reasons for why your opinion should be taken into consideration, and extra details. There are at least three details in a persuasive essay.
An opinion is your thoughts or believes on a certain topic. I believe that every opinion should be taken into account. That was an opinion. So people have started to write about their opinions in letters, drafts for publishing, informal writing pieces, etc.
E.g., my opinion is that dogs are great pets. My reasons are that they are loyal creatures, and they will alert you if you’re in danger. Extra detail: I read about a dog who saved his owner from a burglary. They also are really cuddly and friendly. Extra detail: they’re so comforting and they relieve you of stress. And my third reason is that you can adopt a dog in any shape, size, and color. Extra detail: I guarantee you that you can find a dog that’s right for you.
As we build up our knowledge about persuasive essays, we’ll start writing for longer.
So think about something that you believe in strongly. Need some help? I’ve got a couple of prompts. Why you should get a later bedtime, why you should get a new pet, why bees are helpful, and why you should get more screen time. Or you can think up something totally different! So let’s do a quick write.
For five minutes, just write whatever persuasive essay comes to mind. We’ll revise it later.

Now that you have written whichever persuasive essay came to mind- hopefully, it followed all of our persuasive essay rules- we can get to our prompt of the day.

Prompt of the day: Write about why we should start conserving the environment better than we do. This may require research! Make sure you ask your parents/guardians about a reputable source you can use.
