Tips for a Five-Minute Bed-Making
Today, we’re going to talk about how to efficiently make your bed in only five minutes.
Before we begin, I’d like to go over the basics and pre-advanced elements of making a bed.
- Usually, people make beds so that it looks comfortable for guests or themselves.
- Another reason people make beds is that most of us tend to kick off our sheets at night so we have to even out the bedspread and put it back up on the bed.
- Making beds is a task people complete in their everyday wake-up routine or something they do when their bed is untidy and they have time.
Now for the pre-advanced elements of making a bed:
- Usually, people make beds while making sure each side of the sheet or blanket is hung at an equal length over each side of the bed.
- Some people have a duvet on top of all their other covers. The duvet is normally the most important place to smooth out any pleats or creases.
- There are usually two covers beneath the duvet. You don’t have to completely smooth out the wrinkles on these, but you do have to make sure they are spread out on the bed with each end symmetrically hung over the sides of the bed.
- The sheet is the last part of the bed. It is an additional layer of warmth for you. There’s not much else to say about a sheet.
Let’s begin. Start by flattening out the sheet over the bed just enough so that if you were to slip into the bed right then you’d get an identical amount of sheet at each part of the bed.
Next comes the two blankets above that. Even them out just like the sheet, and make sure they aren’t bunched up in one spot.
Now comes the duvet cover. Smooth out all the folds and if it’s reversible, flip it to the side you like best. And again: make sure each side of the duvet is hanging with an even length over each side of the bed.
Last but not least, we have to put the pillows on the bed. Shake the pillows and place them over your duvet in an arrangement you like them in. Shaking the pillows makes them fluffy and soft in my experience.
If you learned something about making a bed, wonderful. If you didn’t, that’s alright. At least you made your bed!
