Everything About Google Docs: For Information-Tracking Lovers
In the previous article, I wrote about Google Keep Notes. Google Docs is also a Google product, and it is also a writing tool, but people usually use it differently.
How to Create a Google Doc
At the top of your Google Docs homepage, there should be a button with a rainbow-colored plus. Click on that and it will lead you into a fresh document where you can not only jot down notes but journal and write stories and songs.
There are a bunch of different features you’ll see when you open up a document, and I’ll talk about those soon.
How to Add Images to Your Note
There are two ways to do this. The first way is to press ‘Insert’ at the top of your screen and click on the image icon. There should be an extended menu that asks you if you would like to search the web or download the image from your computer.
The other way is to click on the little box with the star on it at the bottom of your screen. When you hover over it with your mouse, you can see that this button is called ‘Explore’.
When you search for images on there, it comes up with search results of photos other people have taken. Make sure you only use photos you have permission to use.
How to Make Your Doc Available Online
If you’d like to publish your Google Doc to the web, follow the steps below:
- Click on ‘File’ at the top of your screen.
- Press ‘Publish to the web’.
- Grant any of the permissions and press ‘Publish’.
Extra Features
You can also share your Doc with somebody, change the font, the size of your text, the color of it, etc.
If you click on the little overlapping circles and squares, you can add in speech bubbles and shapes.
You can change the line spacing and if you have columns or not.
You can even use the voice typing tool if your hands get tired.
As much as I would like to tell you about every bit of this tool, I think I should leave you to explore Google Docs on your own.
